October 9, 2007 | Cambridge, MA – Proxy Networks, Inc., a leading provider of secure remote control software, announced the general availability of PROXY/Enterprise 5.20 and PROXY/Pro 5.20. New capabilities include seamless connectivity to remote clients, stronger security with 256-bit encryption and SSL support, and real-time monitoring of remote control and remote access activities in the network.
“Proxy has delivered secure, reliable, easy-to-use remote control products to enterprise and SMB helpdesks for over a decade. Today, we are enabling Proxy customers to reach outside the corporate network so that they can support anyone, anywhere, anytime,” said Proxy Networks CEO Andy Kim.
Reach Remote Clients with Firewall-Friendly Remote Control Connections
PROXY/Enterprise 5.20, featuring the Proxy Gateway server for setting up and managing connectivity, security, and access rights, can now establish and maintain remote control connections to remote PCs and servers, even if they are behind firewalls or Network Address Translation (NAT) devices. This allows helpdesk personnel to reach remote users without the need to configure IP addresses or open firewall ports. Combined with 256-bit encryption and SSL authentication, these new firewall-friendly remote control connections are totally secure and hassle-free for both support providers and their clients. “With more of our colleagues working at home, on the road and offsite, we were beginning to get worried about how we would provide technical support outside our network. PROXY/Enterprise 5.20 solved our problems by enabling us find and manage remote machines quickly, safely and without any configuration changes. Our helpdesk became much more responsive overnight,” said Scott Thomas, network engineer at Rutan & Tucker, LLP, one of the largest law firms in California.
Monitor Remote Control and Remote Access Activities in Real-Time
PROXY/Enterprise 5.20 introduces a new service to monitor remote control and remote access activities in the network. Customers can watch for unauthorized access requests and manage remote control activities using a dashboard showing status and events for all clients connected to the Proxy Gateway server. Customers can also set up alerts to watch for specific events, and trigger actions such as sending email to network administrators or starting a screen recording session on a remote machine.
Work Confidently with Enhanced Encryption and SSL Support
Drawing on strong security heritage from Funk Software and Juniper Networks, from which Proxy Networks spun off in 2006, PROXY/Enterprise 5.20 and PROXY/Pro 5.20 both support state- of-the-art AES hashing and 256-bit encryption to ensure that remote control activities are private and secure. In addition, Proxy users can now request that service providers use SSL certificates for authentication.
Proxy Technical Support: Eating Our Own Dogfood
Proxy Technical Support representatives use PROXY/Enterprise 5.20 to provide remote support to Proxy customers today. Rather than guessing at the nature of customer issues, Proxy representatives now connect directly to customer machines anywhere, anytime, and investigate and diagnose customer issues on the spot. “Remote support is rapidly becoming the standard mode of delivering technical support for service providers and software vendors around the world,” said Kim.

Along with the release of PROXY/Enterprise 5.20 and PROXY/Pro 5.20, the company is also launching its newly designed website. One of the new components is an online store, where new and existing customers can purchase initial or incremental quantities of Proxy software products. Larger volume customers are encouraged to contact Proxy sales or Proxy resellers for volume discounts.
